The newspaper Le Berry Républicain of November 8, 1954, reported that a resident of Bourges, Mrs. G... M..., and her husband, aged 45, living at 77 Avenue de Saint-Amand, had seen during the night "from Friday to Saturday," that is, on November 6, 1954, a "strange craft in the sky."
Suffering from a toothache, Mrs. G... M... had gotten up around 1:15 a.m. to take a pill. As the shutters of her kitchen were open, she looked outside and saw a large luminous ball in the sky, which she described as being "as big as a washtub," descending and growing larger.
It disappeared, then she saw it again, bright and of a very vivid orange-yellow color, then it disappeared once more. The whole thing lasted about 10 minutes.
The woman indicated to the newspaper a point in the sky near the Polygone, and the newspaper asked her whether it might have been a flare or a rocket.
The woman denied this, explaining that they were used to seeing rockets above the Polygone—which is not in the direction of what she had seen—and that they were also used to planes landing at the airport, but what they saw had no resemblance to those.

We have reported, on numerous occasions, sightings of flying saucers or other such objects in the sky over Bourges.
Today, we must recount the experience of a Bourges resident, Mrs. G... M..., and her husband, 45 years old, living at 77 Avenue de Saint-Amand, who, during the night from Friday to Saturday, saw a strange craft in the sky.
Suffering from a toothache, Mrs. G... M... got up around 1:15 a.m. to take a pill. Since the shutters of her kitchen were open, she looked outside and saw a large luminous sphere in the sky.
"It was as big as a washing machine, and the enormous sphere was descending while growing in size. It disappeared, then I saw it again, shining with a very bright orange-yellow color, and then once more, it vanished. This lasted for about 10 minutes."
When Mrs. G... M... pointed to a location in the sky near the Polygone, we asked her if it could have been a flare or a rocket.
"No. We are used to seeing flares above the Polygone, which is not in the direction of what I saw, as well as planes frequently landing at the airport. What I saw had nothing to do with what my husband and I are accustomed to seeing."
Let's give credit to Mrs. G... M..., who does not want her name published in our columns and is not seeking publicity, and let us hope that one day the mystery of the flying saucers will be solved.
