Via the website of Alsatian ufology association SPICA, someone had reported that on March 5, 2008, at 08:55 p.m., he or she saw four "bright orange balls moving at constant speed for 3 minutes and then disappear very quickly one after the other and without any noise over St. Louis" in the "East/South-West" direction.

Another observation in Saint-Louis, with a published photograph, leaves no doubt: these were Chinese lanterns.
