Those fabulous flying saucers being seen throughout the country are hitting closer to home with the report today that Raymond L. Harris, of Burbank, Calif., sighted five of the flying discs en route to Elko Friday.
Harris and a companion were flying his 150 Voyager to spend the weekend with Deputy Sheriff and Mrs. J. C. Harris when they sighted the fast flying objects between Tonopah and Austin.
According to Harris' report, he and his companion were flying at about 10,000 feet when they sighted a formation of five shiny discs at an altitude slightly below them. He said it was difficult to get a good idea of what the objects were because of the way the sun reflected on them so he could distinguish little other than that they were moving, that they were of a circular shape, and a brilliant color.
The flier turned his plane around to give chase to the objects but was unable to catch up with them and they soon disappeared, he reported.
When Harris landed in Elko he inquired as to what the disc-shaped objects might be but could not verify the identity of the flying saucers because no one else in this area had sighted them. Harris reported that they were traveling in southwesterly direction.
