Valenciennes, September 12. -- Marius Dewilve, 34 years old, a worker at the Ateliers du Nord de la France, living at level crossing No. 79 in Carouble, stated that on Friday evening, around 10 p.m., his attention was drawn by the barking of his dog.
He immediately went outside carrying his flashlight and saw, on the railway track, a dark mass of oval shape, which could have been 6 meters long and 3 meters high. Shining his light around, Mr. Dewilve saw two strange men, whose height did not exceed one meter, quickly heading toward the craft.
A few moments later, the craft rose vertically and disappeared while emitting smoke.
Alerted, the air police went to the site, but no trace was found.
