I must say I am quite perplexed. Mr. Dewilde reports having seen two Martians and their craft on the Saint-Amand–Blanc-Misseron railway line, near level crossing 79. The Valenciennes police went there as if investigating a rabbit-hutch burglary and remained puzzled by the scratches on a sleeper. We are also informed that Mr. Dewilde suffered a serious accident a year ago (cranial trauma [sic]), after which he showed some nervous disorders.
Mr. Antoine Mazaud, a farmer from the hamlet of Mouriéras, near Bugeat (Corrèze), tells us: "On September 10, on the Millevaches plateau, I saw a flying cigar. Its pilot kissed me and spoke to me. He wore a helmet; he looked like a motorcyclist..."
All these details are troubling. I would be careful not to claim that flying saucers do not exist, in this century where scientific progress and the improvement of motorcycles advance so rapidly.
In the newsreels, we see heavier-than-air machines of such strange shapes!
"From Finland, near Helsinki, a flying saucer has been seen at 700 meters altitude. Circular shape. Intense light. Reddish tail."
They are also reported in Norway, in England, not to mention the first ones, sighted long ago in the United States.
Saucers or no saucers? Truly, I am perplexed, but what a strange habit their pilots have of preferring to land them on deserted heaths, at dusk.
When it would be so nice of them to come and satisfy the curiosity of crowds at Place de la Concorde or, better yet, along the Seine, for the opening of the Lépine competition!
