A flying, luminous "half-sphere" follows a car near Bourges

Bourges, September 26. -- M. Robert Patient, 35, assistant inspector of the P.T.T., living in Bourges, who was driving to Vasselay with his children on Thursday evening, reported seeing that night in the hamlet of Jou, north of Bourges, a very bright hemispherical object appearing to descend into a field.

At the presumed landing point, a reddish glow appeared. An incandescent filament about fifty meters long extended from the center of the object. For twenty to thirty seconds, there was darkness. Suddenly, another glow appeared. M. Patient, who had stopped his car, then drove on, silently followed for several hundred meters by the "flying hemisphere."

Other witnesses from Bourges, Saint-Doulchard, and Vierzon reported seeing a luminous object at roughly the same time.
